Bios Model

The BIOS® simulation model, developed by Global Factor and used in numerous national and regional projects (e.g. Spain, Ukraine, Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico, among others) was designed to project long-term greenhouse gas emissions in order to develop mitigation and reduction strategies.

This model utilises a macroeconomic approach and is based on the interrelation of the different emitting sectors of a country or region by means of Input-Output tables. The main driver of the model relates the production of the sectors with energy consumption, so that the implications of projective scenarios of GDP on production, energy and emissions can be known.

Hydroclim

The Hydroclim model makes it possible to quantify the impact of climate change on the fundamental operating variables of hydroelectric power plants, whether flowing or reservoir-based. It is based on the definition of climate change scenarios and the introduction of physical, technical and operational variables of these plants, to provide results in terms of flow, production, storage and dewatering with an hourly or daily resolution update.

The model has been applied in the hydroelectric power plants of several energy companies (Enel, Acciona). Some of their results have been published in the scientific journal Energies.

CO2 Neutral

Global Factor has developed a carbon footprint calculation software.

go CO2 neutral, is an online tool that aims to measure carbon emissions attributed to trips made in order to raise awareness of the impact they can have on the environment.

The tool has two main functions: calculating the carbon footprint and offsetting emissions.

The projects used for offsetting emissions are projects guaranteed and recognised under high international standards.

CO2 Data

The virtual application CO2 DATA has been developed by the R+D+i Department of Global Factor in order to allow the data collection, calculation and management of the carbon footprint of an organisation, a product or service and even the celebration of an event. It follows the principles of the international standards with greater acceptance and recognition (ISO 14064, PAS 2050 and GHG Protocol).

CO2 Data is specially designed to centralise data collection in organisations with numerous plants or operational centers.

It has been developed for numerous companies at an international level, as in the case of Elecnor, or at a national level, as in the case of Ikea.
