Project description

The Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas considers the development of the private sector, which has sufficient potential to contribute to the sustainable growth of the country, a priority. To this end, this agency, through the Ministry of Environment and Housing, collaborated with the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) to develop the project “Support for the preparation of the Green Climate Fund in the Bahamas”.

The project aimed to build on the efforts of the Regional Private Sector Readiness of the Green Climate Fund to engage and mobilize the private sector. The Global Factor team supported the development of a diagnosis and analysis of the barriers or possible political-economic difficulties for private sector engagement. Based on the findings of the diagnosis and the convening of a public-private dialogue forum, a plan for strengthening the public-private partnership for climate co-financing was developed and training was conducted to jointly design and implement projects.
