Renewable energy is generally associated with employment creation. IRENA estimates that global renewable energy employment increased by 5% in 2015 to reach 8.1 million. An additional 1.3 million people were employed in large hydropower[1].
Yet despite this development, there remains a critical shortage of skilled personnel to develop, design, finance, build, operate and maintain renewable energy projects.
As future African leaders educated and aiming for the transformation of the continent into a place of economic growth, social participation and environmental responsibility, it is particularly important to highlight career paths for the PAUWES graduates. This will help to match this highly-educated workforce with the employment opportunities offered by the ever faster growing renewable energy sector in Africa. It is crucial for the effectiveness and credibility of PAUWES university that most the students find positions corresponding to their educational background and that are located in the African continent.
Global Factor was responsible for the implementation of the First PAUWES Career Days to empower students to embark their career paths, for whatever position they are striving to establish. The Career Days provided the students with individual professional guidance, orientation and with the tools needed to start successful careers.
