Project description

Peru is addressing climate change by formulating adaptation and mitigation targets expressed in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). These targets are directed to all sectors and actors of society around common objectives for the sustainability of the country. As part of this continuous improvement process, Global Factor’s goal was to develop greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction trajectories.

They considered the GHG reduction potential of the 62 mitigation measures formulated by the Peruvian government in the framework of the Multisectoral Working Group on Nationally Determined Contributions (MWG-NDC).

The Global Factor team projected different scenarios, combining different ambitions, based on methodological assumptions in five sectors (agriculture, forestry, waste, energy and industrial processes), in order to update Peru’s NDC to a higher ambition, as well as to assess long-term development strategies for low-carbon economies.
